Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 10, 2026

This policy is under ongoing review by counsel. Material changes will be announced as described below.

This Privacy Policy explains how Daxi Study AI ("Daxi," "we") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Daxi study assistant (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account information. Username, email address, and a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text). If you sign up through a referral or ambassador link, we record the referral source.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive subscription status, plan, and billing-cycle information; we do not store your full card number.

Content you upload. Your course materials (documents, slides, images, audio, video links) and the questions you ask. To make the Service work, we create derived data from your materials: extracted text, OCR output, transcripts, vector embeddings, and AI-generated descriptions of figures and slides.

Usage information. We log how the Service is used — including questions asked and answers returned, files uploaded, features used, and resource usage (such as pages processed and tokens used) — to operate the Service, enforce plan limits, prevent abuse, and improve quality.

Device and log information. When you sign up, sign in, or use the Service we collect IP address, browser and device information, approximate location derived from IP (country/city/network), and a device fingerprint (a hash derived from browser characteristics). We use fingerprinting and login signals to prevent free-trial abuse, account sharing, and fraud.

Analytics and cookies. We use Google Analytics 4 and similar tools to understand signups, feature usage, and subscription events. We use cookies for sign-in sessions and preferences.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide the Service: process your materials with AI, answer your questions with citations, generate study aids, store your library.
  • Billing and account management: subscriptions, trials, plan limits, and payment issues.
  • Trust, safety, and anti-abuse: trial-abuse prevention, account-sharing detection, rate limiting, and security monitoring.
  • Service improvement and analytics: aggregate usage analysis, performance, and reliability.
  • Communications: transactional emails (receipts, security notices) and product updates you can opt out of.
  • Legal: complying with law and enforcing our Terms.

3. AI Processing and Model Training

Daxi uses third-party AI providers to process your content (for example: transcription, OCR, embeddings, and answering questions). These providers act as our processors for this purpose.

We do not use your uploaded materials, questions, or answers to train AI models, and we do not permit our AI vendors to use them to train theirs (per our agreements and their API terms).

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with:

  • Service providers (processors): Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, database), Qdrant (vector search), OpenAI (embeddings, transcription, responses), DeepInfra (AI model hosting), Google (Gemini document/vision processing; Google Analytics), Supadata (video caption retrieval), Stripe (payments), and Vercel (web hosting). Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer with appropriate protections and notice.

5. Students and FERPA

Daxi is a consumer service that students choose to use; it is not operated as a "school official" for your institution, and we do not access your institution's education records. What you upload is your choice. If an educational institution later adopts Daxi institutionally, that deployment will be governed by separate agreements addressing FERPA and applicable state student-privacy laws.

6. Retention

We keep your account information and library while your account is active. If your subscription ends or you cancel, uploaded files are retained for a limited wind-down window of 30–90 days (so you can export or resubscribe) and then deleted. You can delete individual files or your account at any time, subject to short backup cycles. Usage, billing, and security logs are kept as needed for the purposes above and for legal compliance. De-identified derived technical data that does not substantially reproduce your materials may be retained.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You can access and export your materials, correct account information, delete files, or delete your account from your settings — or by emailing hello@daxi.study.

US state privacy rights. Depending on your state (including California), you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and port your personal information, and to non-discrimination for exercising them. We honor these requests for all US users. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act. To exercise rights, email hello@daxi.study; we will verify the request through your account email.

Analytics choices: you can use browser controls or Google's opt-outs to limit analytics cookies.

8. Security

We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your personal information we will notify you as required by law.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Users under 18 should use Daxi with a parent's or guardian's consent.

10. International Users

The Service is hosted in the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, you understand your information is processed in the US.

11. Changes; Contact

We will post updates here and notify you of material changes. Questions or requests: Daxi Study AI, hello@daxi.study.
